Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Everywhere
Today I was walking in one of the only old growth forests left in Connecticut. There is a big hill on the trail, and some loving steward of the forest built a long staircase to protect the hill from erosion.
I have walked this way many times, and taken the stairs. Carved into the stair treads, a few words at a time is the following." By now you are visiting a place deep within you that you visit all too infrequently, but is a part of who you truly are"
I have walked these stairs hundreds of times and have seen this inscription. It is a long steep section of trail. As you come upon each stair, it is punctuated by your breath and effort. The words can slowly drop one by one into your consciousness.
I love the message, and it is certainly true for me, that a return to the woods is what brings me back to who I truly am. In my work as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner, I often ask my clients how a phrase lands in their body.
This slow word by word "landing" of each word on a separate step, feels like a different way of discovering how each and every word hits me as I hit the next step. I wonder about the creator of these steps.
I imagine other words landing this slowly, with time to digest each one to have each one be part of my forward journey.
