How does Phoenix Rising Show up in your life?
Recently I began swimming again. I had been comfortable in the water as a child. As time went by , I began to notice a profound discomfort in the water, at times, I noticed I was quite fearful.
So as I began my commitment to swim several times a week, I found the fear rising up in me. I made a decision to just get in the water......
The first day I went to the pool , I decided to be in the water , and feel what came up. As I noticed the fears rising, I noticed I was holding my breath. There were so many edges to experience. It felt overwhelming. Thinking about holding my breath, led me to see this as primal.
I took a step back in my mind and decided to float and notice where else in my body this fear resides.
As I allowed myself to notice, I also allowed myself to breathe and just be with it. This slowly brought about change. Over the course of several weeks a shift happened . The water went from menace to support.
In retrospect I see how over the weeks I spent watching and feeling, being present to myself, I had given myself a long Phoenix Rising Session. I allowed myself to go where the fear and pain lived. I allowed myself to retreat when it got too scary. I gave myself support in my noticing. The silence of the water and staying in touch with my breath kept me present to myself.
Every time I get in the pool, now, the noticing , the silence and my breath are there to support me. I now look forward to the support of the water and the silence with nothing more than the sound of my breath as music.
